WWF-India’s Hyderabad chapter has announced the second edition of the Hyderabad Annual Tree (HAT) Biodiversity Survey, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 9. The event invites nature enthusiasts from across the twin cities and neighboring districts to participate.

The survey aims to provide participants an opportunity to observe and understand the interconnected ecosystem of urban trees and wildlife. Volunteers will document various species residing in or visiting trees, contributing to biodiversity research. The initiative seeks to increase public awareness of urban flora and fauna through direct engagement in conservation efforts.

WWF-India’s Hyderabad office stated that civil society organizations will play a key role in the event. The city will be divided into six zones, with specific streets and parks designated for observation. Volunteers will collect data on tree species, trunk diameter, flowering and fruiting stages, and record details of any animals spotted, including species name and count.

The survey findings are expected to support scientific research and inform government policies on urban biodiversity conservation. Interested participants can register at http://bit.ly/3Xra3BT, call 8074419076, or email [email protected].
